But still the war thunders in the background
Even as cannabis—medicinal cannabis and adult-use consumption—is slowly being legalized state-by-state, society is still reeling from 100 years of misinformation, manipulation, and lies that were aimed to oppress targeted populations.
With cannabis legalization in Michigan, safe places for access and like-minded communities didn’t just pop up overnight. Legalization hit the market like a storm, and the first people able to jump the hoops of state and local regulations weren’t truly cannabelievers. They were only business investors looking to cash in, fast.
Despite the legalization of medical cannabis in Michigan in 2008 and adult-use in 2018, over 20,000 cannabis-related arrests still take place every year. With a significant racial bias, despite nearly equal usage rates amongst races. Something’s gotta change - as African Americans are still nearly 4x more likely to be arrested for marijuana, than Caucasians.
Those already serving time for offenses prior to legalization have been left to languish in prison. They’re the prisoners of the War on Weed that hasn’t ended and judged for crimes that others are now making millions on. As soon as states started restoring rights to this plant, cannabis went from being “dangerous” to “essential” in short order—assuming you bought it on the “white market.”
The Craft Cannabis Club isn’t about to let this injustice take hold. The same thing that was wrong with the War on Weed then, is still wrong to this day. Which is why we built our club as a unique space for cannabelievers and the cannacurious. It’s a safe place you can count on for a comfortable experience while making the connections to help end the disastrous War on Weed.
When did you become cannacurious?
We all have an origin story that led us to be cannacurious, and each story is unique. But there are usually some factors in common. Some being society-wide meaning, unless we all change, we will all suffer.
Most of us were raised with the class war on weed stigmas. Like… stoners are lazy. They’re just junkies. They should be ashamed. Good people don’t consume cannabis. The Club’s leadership has experienced the stigmas first-hand, including arrest, prosecution, asset seizure, and asset forfeit. This can’t go on. We are determined in demanding change.
The Craft Cannabis Club was built with the tools and educational resources, to make those stigmas a thing of the past. As you have personally moved past those stigmas, we believe society can too. We are committed to promoting profound wellness and awareness, for the shared goal of restoring cannabis therapy.
